George Washington Flanders

By: Ben

Hi I’m George Washington Flanders. I was born on Orange County, Vermont on February 22, 1842. I was a strong man. At age 18 I joined the state militia and was later brought to the union army to fight in the Civil War. Later, after the war, I went west where I prospected, mined, and became a carpenter and millwright in Helena. I lived in the Montana territory where I operated a shingle and sawmill business. Later, I die at the age of 85.
