Elmyra Frazer lived on a farm that was a hundred acres. Frazers farm was located in Lancaster county. He lived with his wife and seven children. Frazer heard that people were having luck on Gold Strikes in Montana territory and he went to try his luck. He left mid-August of that year leaving his wife and eldest son who was fourteen to take care of the barn. He left and had very little luck. Later on he had little money and traveled by foot were ever he went.
