The Avant Courier was one unique newspaper. Joseph Wright was the writer for it. He started writing the paper September 13, 1871. It was bought later in 1877 becoming the Bozeman Courier. The frequency of the Avant Courier was weekly, and it was in English. It was published right here in Bozeman. J. Wright said it was, “Devoted to the Development of Eastern Montana and the Encouragement of all Industrial Pursuits”. The Avant Courier was and always will be the first newspaper in Bozeman.
